But they also take a lot of pride in how they treat their employees and team members. I have been fortunate enough to experience that first hand.
ShardSecure, from an employee perspective, is a place of support, personal growth, community network building, and so much more. That’s why I wanted to take the time to talk about what it’s like working for such an excellent company within the cybersecurity industry.
The cyber and data security industry is a very competitive space — and not just for consumers and businesses. With an increasing number of options hitting the market monthly, tech professionals looking for work also find themselves struggling to choose the best option.
The philosophy at ShardSecure is to take care of their employees so that they in turn help to take care of the company and the clients. ShardSecure does this by providing a supportive and nurturing workplace environment, solid benefits, a strong work-life balance, and a positive company culture. If you’re curious about what this looks like, you’ll find everything you need to know in the article below.
ShardSecure believes in a totally open-door policy. This means that all employees, at any level, can take their concerns and comments to any level of management. If you have something you want to get off your chest, you can bring it to your manager, or really as high up the chain as you feel the need to go.
Instead of employees finding that they’ve been punished, shut out, or treated to a hostile work environment for voicing their thoughts, our open-door policy helps to create an atmosphere where team members feel comfortable making their voices heard.
This policy also means that we can openly discuss our concerns and ideas with each other laterally — we aren’t ever discouraged from being in open communication! I personally have had the chance to experience this policy in action, and it’s been a breath of fresh air.
As mentioned above, I have full access to our C suite at all times. We operate under the assumption that there should never be a barrier between executive staff and the rest of the team, no matter what position you hold. Being able to form relationships and have conversations with the C suite helps the working environment be relaxed and free of tension.
On the reverse side, C-level staff also makes it a point to interact with team members. This helps them stay in touch with what the team needs day-to-day to keep working cohesively and progressing happily.
It’s one thing to say that management will hear your ideas and concerns. It’s an entirely different thing to say that management will listen to them. Whenever I’ve had a need or concern, my management team actually takes my feedback into consideration and does their best to implement my suggestions.
The leaders at ShardSecure understand that the team members who are in the trenches every day often know what might help make processes smoother — as well as make the team happier. This means that the management is trained to keep their ears to the ground and their fingers on the pulse of their team. In my opinion, listening to input is critical to growing a team of employees who feel valued, heard, important, and like they’re actively contributing to the growth of the company.
For most junior-level employees, the goal is to grow your experience and move up within the company to better your career — or at least it is for me. That’s why I love that the management at ShardSecure is actively encouraged to mentor junior team members.
Team leaders and managers at ShardSecure always do their best to take younger talent under their wing — especially when they’re first starting out or tackling a certain challenge for the first time. They teach them the ropes and how to succeed within this industry and at this company.
Of course, the ultimate aim for any company is to grow their business. This includes growth across virtually every facet of the company, from profits and market share to team productivity and capability. However, I’ve often seen the latter be sacrificed in pursuit of the former. Luckily, ShardSecure focuses heavily on growing the business in every way possible.
The philosophy as I see it at ShardSecure is that in order to grow the company, you need to grow the team. That team needs to be well staffed, equipped, compensated, educated, and mentored. When a team is given the proper tools to grow and succeed, they will in turn help the company to grow. You will see a better product, which will bring in more clients and customers, which will turn into higher revenue and profit margins. Like a plant, growth begins at the roots.
In my time here at ShardSecure, I have always felt like my needs are met when it comes to growth. This includes proper equipment, training, and general resources. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience in an industry as competitive as cybersecurity.
At ShardSecure, I work with a diverse team that’s located all around the world. Although remote work can present some logistical issues, ShardSecure makes it a point to organize our workflow and teams in a way that makes communication easy.
We believe that we work best when we’re able to communicate seamlessly and keep each other in the loop. In an environment where employees are often across the globe from each other, this is only possible through careful planning. Despite these logistical issues, we make it work — and work well.
Now that you know what it’s like working for ShardSecure, you likely want to know what the actual team looks like.
ShardSecure is made up of a diverse group of individuals from different countries, cultures, religious affiliations, sexual orientations, and educational backgrounds. We’ve made it a point to build a team that provides different outlooks and experiences in order to help build a data security company that provides dynamic solutions for a modern tech industry.
My experience is that when you have team members from all walks of life, you can have the chance to look at problems and potential solutions from new and interesting angles. This takes “thinking outside the box” to a whole new level. That is the kind of team you can expect to work alongside at ShardSecure: one built on communication, inclusion, ambition, and trust.
I personally have felt like being able to work alongside such a unique set of team members has made me a better person, as well as a better teammate. That’s one of the most exciting aspects of working here! I get to have daily conversations with fellow employees across the globe and learn about their cultures and personalities as well as their working styles.
It should be pretty obvious by now that I really enjoy working at ShardSecure. But I don’t want to just glow about how great of an experience working here is (although it has been). Instead, I want to highlight the great opportunities this company offers for people looking for a career in data security.
I know how hard it can be to find a company that feels like a good fit. It’s often a draining process to go to a job where you don’t feel fulfilled or heard. That’s why I want to take the time to highlight how unique and positive the culture is here at ShardSecure. I couldn’t be happier with my work and those I work with.
ShardSecure has become like a second family for me, one that I hope to be a part of for years to come! It’s a place to develop a new career, or even revitalize a current one.
And that’s what it’s like to work at ShardSecure.
